I believe they are down to their last sticks of furniture to burn.

Perhaps the dec should run a new appeal - call it the "Softy Southerner's in snow plight" campaign.

Bet the BBC would bloody run that one!

(do those references translate in Canada? taking the mick out of the eating habits of softy southerners is mandatory in the UK)

Distribution is The Issue -
all that snow is needed to cool the hot earth where whole towns in Victoria were burned-out.
