GLOBAL WARMING CAMPAIGNERS ADD TO GLOBAL WARMING. AGAIN.
Here we go again. Sorry to be boring, but I have to say this.
These protesters at Heathrow? They are expecting a couple of thousand to turn up for a week long campaign about people going on holiday adding to climate change.
And just how are these couple of thousand people getting there? Are they arriving on donkey carts? Or once again will we see the extra gobbling up of the world's resources as these self-righteous sandal-wearing extremists trundle down to the herd watering-hole to use up precious police time and money?
And just what do they think it will achieve? An active network of religious fanatics who wish to use aeroplanes as weapons of mass destruction haven't put us off going to Portugal for our annual leave, so why would a band of unwashed, dread-locked, tie-dye fanatics stop us?
You're wasting your time.
We'll consider our own backgardens for our holidays, when you stop having mass protests and wash your hair.

I've blogged in a similar vain on my own blog and linked to this posting by yourself.
I agree! You might enjoy this: climate change camp crazy creepy cranks
The phrase "shoot the messenger" came about because of the somewhat unforgiving association between the messenger and the message. Yet, alas, a handsome and gallant messenger may bring false tidings, whilst a daft and ungainly peasant may be inadverently full of wisdom.
Too often these days, if we don't like the messenger, we simply don't listen to the message.
Exactly!
The thing is, anonymous, people were getting the message.
I've been recycling, using energy saving lightbulbs, using eco-friendly household cleaners etc etc etc for years and years.
I was the odd one out of everyone I knew. But now I'm not. Now alot of people do this sort of stuff. We were all finally getting it. The wind was behind the environmentalists.
And now what do we have in these messengers? A bunch of egotistical, self-righteous, evangelical, wankers shouting in everyone's faces, acting like they are the only ones who know what's right and what's wrong.
Nothing but nothing is harming the environmental message more than this bunch of tosspots.
And do you know what? When this bunch of smelly middle-class campers have grown up and got proper jobs, they'll be driving around in their 4X4s and jetting off to their second homes in Nice, happy in the knowledge that they did their bit.
Yes, did their bit - to piss all over the sense of goodwill that had beeen growing towards environmental issues in the general public.
They are harming the credibility of the environmental movement and alienating exactly the type of people that need to listen to the message.
So, yeah, anonymous, well done for pointing out that if we don't like the messenger, we will not listen to the message - because that is exactly what is going to happen.
How's the photo-voltaic revolution going in UK? It's a bit slow off the mark here, but people are actually selling power back to the grid *and* being zero net consumers at the same time. (Yes, it takes about a $30k initial investment, but it does not require Arizona-like weather: people in Vermont are doing it!)
Perhaps the govt in UK could entice the enviro-yobs away from Heathrow by offering them attractive, govt-backed loand to reduce their own carbon foot prints through PV installation?
Sigh. I felt like disagreeing with you, dear Scribbles, following my earlier "shoot the messenger" post. Alas I too am beginning to wish someone would gag these Heathrow protesters.
As we also experience in our own individual lives, a complex balance is needed for the earth between living for the now and safe-keeping the future. I am not completely sure that a sign bearing "Make planes history" is particularly helpful.
Anyone wanting a reasonable and intelligent debate? Best bet is to leave the country.
Just to clarify, that's the ENTIRE country, not just the rural bits.
Sigh.
Washing their hair will not be enough, I am afraid, Scribbles. It is only a tip of the iceberg ;-)
