DVLA off!
Heard on the radio today that the DVLA don't have to rely on eagle-eyed traffic wardens and police stop checks to get us for an out-of-date tax discs anymore. No, now they've got a fancy computer that knows when you haven't bought a new one and will automatically issue a fine.
Yes, they can get computer systems to work when they're taking money off us can't they? Bastards.

Graniuad fangirl turns into Daily Mail reader shock
Is it not more surprising that the DVLA are only just getting round to having such a system? Unlike, say, televisions, cars have to be registered, taxed, licensed, MOT'd and probably lots of other things that I wouldn't know about, so it seems perfectly logical to have a computer system to track this..and what were they using before? Index Cards?
Yeah, but if you're a bit slow with renewing your MOT or TV licence, you don't get an automatic fine through the post.
I would guess that I'm not the only one who sometimes doesn't renew their tax disc exactly when they should, it may take a day or two to realise that we've gone over into a new month and that I should have done it last week. And whilst this lack of organisation on my part may be lamentable, I think it's a bit harsh to zonk me with a fine for it.
To Piers - if you think that's bad, wait for my next post!
